An overnight shooting on Des Moines' eastside has left one man dead. Des Moines Police say someone called 9-1-1 just after midnight on Wednesday after hearing multiple gunshots and said they could see a person on the ground outside an apartment building.

Officers responded to the 36-hundred block of Kennedy Drive and found a man with a gunshot wound. He was treated onsite and transported to the hospital, where he later died.

No arrests have been made but investigators are interviewing witnesses. Police say there is no ongoing danger to the neighborhood.

It's the second homicide in Des Moines during 2025.
