(Des Moines) — The victim in a fatal shooting in Des Moines has been identified.

Percy Butler, 35, a Des Moines resident, was found lying on the ground outside an apartment building late Wednesday night.

Tywone Morrow, 31, has been charged with first-degree murder and assault on a police officer. Police say Morrow allegedly spat in an officer’s face during his arrest.

Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots around 12 a.m. Authorities say Morrow and Butler were involved in an argument when Morrow allegedly shot him.

The investigation remains ongoing.
