(Des Moines, IA) -- A Des Moines Police Officer was nearly hit head-on by a driver who is charged with O-W-I.
D-M-P-D says the officer and his patrol car was hit just after one on Friday morning in the 6200 block of SE 5th street, not far from Southridge Mall.
62-year-old Daniel Thornburg drove away from the scene after the crash but was arrested not long after.
He and the officer involved suffered minor injuries.
