An Improvised Explosive is Safely Detonated at Waveland Golf Course

(Des Moines, IA) -- An improvised live explosive device was found at Waveland Golf Course. This afternoon, police responded to reports of a suspicious device that was later determined to be a live explosive.

The Des Moines Police Department Bomb Squad was able to safely detonate the device. According to DMPD, the device was not found in a busy area of the golf course. Officers did not find any other live explosive devices in the area.

Police are continuing to investigate.
