(Des Moines, IA) -- Allegiant Air pilots are picketing nationwide today, including at Des Moines International Airport.

A news release from the Teamsters Union says more than 1,400 pilots at 22 airports are demanding a fair contract.

The pilots are asking to be fairly compensated and to end delays in negotiations.

Allegiant says they are working to finalize an agreement with pilots that includes an immediate 50 percent average increase in hourly wages, scaling to 70 percent over five years, along with increased benefits.

Allegiant Air serves Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and the Quad Cities.
