New Bus Network Approved For Des Moines Metro

(Des Moines, IA) -- A new bus route system has been approved for the Des Moines Metro, the first redesign in more than a decade.

The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) Commission approved a plan that includes going from 27 routes down to 10.

The new routes are designed to shorten travel times but improve reliability. The stops are farther apart but buses will run every 15 minutes on some routes.

The new schedule calls for bus service Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Service on the new network is scheduled to begin next June.
