Braley Seeks Delay in Social Security Decision

Posted June 25th, 2014 @ 11:58am

Iowa Congressman Bruce Braley Wednesday is joining about 100 other congressmen in an effort to stave off some changes in social security field offices around the country.

The agency wants to do away with some in person services such as verification letters and number print outs.

Braley says there is no documentation the changes would save any money and he believes the changes would do more harm than good especially in rural areas.

The congressman admits that eventually all the services will be on line but he contends there needs to be more time given to insure people are getting the government services they need.

He's seeking at least a one year delay,

In addition to the legislation,  Braley co-signed a letter   to the director of Social Security outlining the request.
