Des Moines Police have a man in custody, in connection with a fatal shooting Saturday morning on the city's southeast side.
Neighbors who live in the Southbrook Green Apartment complex at 1516 Evergreen, Building C, tell WHO-Radio News they heard multiple gunshots from an apartment around 9:30am.
Officers arrived and found a woman who had been shot to death.
The woman has been identified as 36 year old Mary Dudley. Neighbors gave officers a description of a man, police considered a possible suspect. That description was broadcast on police radio and a short time later, the man was taken into custody by police in Ames. He's identified by Des Moines police as 50 year old Harold Dudley. He's charged with first degree murder and first degree burglary.
Police say the two were married but had been living apart.
