Record temp to hit 100 this weekend in Des Moines area

WHO TV Channel 13 Weather Forecast

Stay cool the next few days with record breaking highs in the forecast through early next week. You can prevent heat-related illnesses by wearing light-colored and loose clothing, drinking extra water and taking breaks in the shade.

WHO Channel 13 meteorologists say the worst of the heat will hit over the weekend as strong south winds will help the temperature climb to 100°. Dew point temperatures will rise into the middle and upper 60s which will make it feel like 100°+ as air temperatures will be in the upper 90s. Sunny skies are expected through the beginning of next week with the 90s lasting through Tuesday.

By Wednesday the ridge will start to push east and make way for another trough, meaning there is a chance for rain with the pattern shift.
