The Polk County Health Department says there are a number of cooling shelters available today (Friday) because of the excessive heat and humidity. An overnight shelter will be set up tonight at Zion Lutheran Church, 4300 Beaver Avenue.

Those wishing to spend the night at Zion Lutheran Church, should note doors open at 8pm, doors lock at 11pm. Cots, blankets, pillows, water and snacks will be provided. DART is offering free bus rides to the shelter.
