There was a police standoff Wednesday morning in Cedar Rapids after an armed man showed up  at the Public Works Streets department.

"It started at 10:38 a.m. when we received a call reporting that a man had entered the Public City Services Center armed with a shotgun."  Says Cedar Rapids Police spokesman Greg Beulow.

"Other employees exited the building, and it sounds like this individual was more of a threat to himself."

The man was taken into police custody just after noon, with no shots fired. Police now say the man is a city employee and is being evaluated at a medical facility.
