You're invited to a Monday open house

Today starts National Traffic Incident response week. 

The Iowa DOT is having an open house at the TMC in Ankeny today (Monday) from 2-4!

WHAT: Emergency first responder open house. See emergency response vehicles up close and talk to responders about how they work together to clear incidents quickly. Visit with emergency professionals and view their equipment. Participants include:

·         Iowa Department of Transportation Maintenance

·         Iowa DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement

·         Iowa Department of Public Safety – Iowa State Patrol

·         Local Fire Department

·         Local Emergency Medical Services

·         Hanifen Towing

WHEN: Nov. 13, 2-4 p.m.

WHERE: Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division, 6310 E. Convenience Blvd., Ankeny. in the commercial motor vehicle testing lot north of the Iowa DOT building

WHO: Media and the general public

Tours

The Iowa DOT will be offering guided tours of the agency’s Traffic Management Center. Anyone interested in a tour should gather on the west side of the building. Tours include a look at the wall of video monitors, a chance to chat with those who handle incidents 24/7/365, and a look at how the Iowa DOT manages incidents and coordinates responses.

There will also be a video presentation of a crash, highlighting all the elements that came together seamlessly to make the incident safer for everyone.
