Big Changes Coming For Diet Coke

In the cola wars, my diet drink of choice is Diet Coke.  With Coca-Cola announcing big changes, is my diet favorite going away?

Diet Coke has launched four new flavors and is changing its iconic can.

Delish.com says traditionalists (like me) don't need to worry.

Diehards, before you freak out, the original design and taste isn't going anywhere. Coca-Cola has assured fans Diet Coke as you know it will still be available in all its normal shapes (glass bottles, classic 12-ounce cans, etc.).

The new generation, on the other hand, is a little bit taller. Diet Coke's new design still contains 12 ounces of soda, but is slimmer and taller, with a vertical red strip lining its side that is "a Coca-Cola red disc that has gone for a walk," according to James Sommerville, the vice president of Coca-Cola Global Design. The shape is similar to Dasani Sparkling cans and LaCroix's Cúrate line.

My thoughts on the new flavors:

Ginger Lime -  Does it taste like a Moscow Mule?  I'd give it a try.

Feisty Cherry -  I like Cherry Coke, so thumbs up.

Zesty Blood Orange -  I like the combo of Chocolate and Orange, but Blood Orange Diet Coke?  Pass.

Twisted Mango -  What is it with "mango" everything?  Do people really love mango that much?  I never get excited over a mango thing.
