Jasper County, Iowa bank robbery suspect arrested

JASPER COUNTY, Iowa-  The Great Western Bank in Sully was robbed early around 12:30 this (Wednesday) afternoon, and a suspect was arrested about an hour after the robbery.

Employees told Jasper County deputies the suspect handed a bank employee a note, indicating he had a weapon, and demanding money.   Bank employees gave him an undisclosed amount of cash and drove away from the bank.   A description of the suspect and the vehicle he was driving was broadcast to area law enforcement agencies.

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office says an Iowa Department of Motor Vehicle Enforcement officer stopped 62-year-old Jeffrey Peer of Panora, on I-80, west of Colfax at approximately 1:12 p.m.  He's charged with 2nd Degree Robbery, and was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
