DES MOINES, Iowa - All those tornado warnings, cell phone alerts, and outdoor warning sirens this week? It was real.
Iowa had a ten tornado Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Des Moines.
The strongest tornado was in Union County near Creston, which was rated EF-2.
In Adair County, an EF-1 tornado was confirmed about 9 miles south of Stuart.
The rest were EF-0 tornadoes. They were located in Centerville, Near Rathbun, near Janesville, Near Brooklyn, Near Tama, Clutier, Montezuma and near Grinnell.
Damage was mostly to trees and crops, although there were reports of a roof being blown off a house and a garage destroyed near Creston, and report of hangar damage at the Centerville airport.
The storms also brought heavy rain to southern and south central Iowa. A monitoring point near the Marion County town of Knoxville has measured eight inches of rain over 5 days.
