Iowa State, UNI Hold Virtual Graduations

IOWA - Iowa State University and the University of Northern Iowa held "virtual" graduation ceremonies over the weekend.

The COVID-19 coronavirus forced the cancellation of in-person ceremonies for thousands of students at both schools.

“This is a historic graduating class and to let them graduate with no hurrah at all … unacceptable,” Iowa State University Associate Vice President for Enrollment Laura Doering told WHO-TV.

Iowa State University set up a stage at Stephens Auditorium with all the components that would be present if students were there in person.

The University of Iowa is holding it's own "virtual" graduation ceremony next weekend.
