Des Moines Public Schools Extending Free Meals Program Into Summer

DES MOINES, Iowa - Des Moines Public Schools is extending its free lunch program through the end of July.

The district says it's secured funding, and beginning Monday, will offer its Summer Meals Program for children ages 1-18 years.

The grab and go meals will be available at 18 elementary and middle schools.

The district says it'll decide what to do in August based on the number of meals served and it's Return to Learn Program.

Meals sites are open from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. each weekday.
