Nebraska Testing for New, More Contagious COVID Cases

LINCOLN, Nebraska -- Nebraska will get the equipment to monitor a new strain of COVID-19.

Governor Pete Ricketts says the equipment will arrive next week, and will be used to monitor the new strain through the "Test Nebraska" program.

A mutation in the virus seems to be even more contagious. It's been found in Colorado and four other states.

Nebraska's Chief Medical Officer Dr. Gary Anthone says the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines seem to work on the new strain, and it shows up in a positive COVID test.
