LifeServe to pause convalescent plasma program in central Iowa

(Des Moines, IA) -- LifeServe Blood Center plans to pause it's convalescent plasma collection program. Spokesperson Danielle West says the demand for plasma has fallen, along with COVID hospitalization rates. She says they'll continue to collect convalescent plasma, from recovered COVID patients until March 20.

She notes, while, they plan to pause the convalescent plasma program they are still in need of other blood and blood products. She says they're always encouraging those with type O to donate, but they can also use donations of more common blood types.

LifeServe Blood Center ramped up collections of convalescent plasma in November as Iowa's COVID hospitalization rates rose.
