Iowa State Senator Coordinating Afghanistan Evacuations

(Des Moines, Iowa) -- An Iowa State Senator is working with a group of fellow veterans to organize private and charter evacuation flights to Afghanistan.

State Senator Zach Nunn, a U.S. Air Force veteran, says the group has been working to find groups or individuals willing to donate aircraft, as well as pilots willing to accept the risk of flying into Afghanistan. The effort is to evacuate Afghani translators who worked with U.S. forces during the 20-year conflict in Afghanistan.

Donations can be made online through the Global Surgical and Medical Support Group, which already has a team on the ground in Kabul working on the evacuation efforts.
