(Undated) -- The first almost total lunar eclipse in 600 years will be visible Friday across the Midwest.

99% of the moon will fall behind the earth's shadow, causing it to turn red.

Starting to be visible around 1 AM, the lunar eclipse should last for over three hours.

Partial lunar eclipse's occur more frequently, but the next total eclipse won't be until 2669.
