(Des Moines, IA) -- Preparations are being made for the Saint Patrick's Day parade Thursday in Des Moines! It's been 2 years since the parade because of the COVID pandemic. The event kicks off at noon from the intersection of Mulberry and 15th Streets and moves up to Grand Ave heading east to 8th Street. The parade is expected to draw about 20,000 excited spectators. Those heading downtown for the parade are advised to take note of street closures and to keep their eyes out for a number of locations offering free parking and some garages with parking charged at just $1 per hour. Floats can be seen staging across MLK Parkway between 15th and Southwest Water Streets ahead of the parade.
