Busy Sunday For Omaha Fire

Omaha Fire investigators say an apartment fire early Sunday afternoon was accidental in nature: the result of improperly discarded smoking materials.

Firefighters saw heavy smoke when they pulled up to the scene near 156th and "Q," and a 2nd alarm was requested and dispatched by 9-1-1 communications.

The fire was extinguished after a short time.

No injuries were reported;

The investigation continues this morning after two homes are damaged in a separate fire in Omaha.

The fire was Sunday afternoon near 76th and Charles Streets.

The fire department says the fire was on the exterior of one house and then spread to a second home.

No injuries in that one;
