Omaha Fire Investigators Work Two Weekend Cases

Investigators say kids playing with a lighter cause a weekend fire in a Omaha home, which is listed as an accidental fire.

The Omaha Fire Department says the fire late Saturday afternoon in a duplex near Mormon Bridge Road and Hanover Circle started in a basement where kids were playing with a torch lighter.

One person suffered minor burns.

Damage is estimated at 50-thousand dollars.

Firefighters also responded to a house fire on Saturday during the noon hour near Blondo and Decatur Streets with heavy smoke showing from several blocks away.

Investigators say the fire was in a two story, single family residence.

All occupants were out of the house, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of that fire is under investigation at this time.

Damage estimated at 175-thousand dolllars;
