Huskers Try To Move Forward After Coaching Change

Mickey Joseph, a former Husker quarterback himself, now moves forward in preparing Nebraska for this week's home football game against Oklahoma after the firing of Scott Frost.

NU Athletics Director Trev Alberts says Joseph will serve as interim head coach for the rest of the 2022 season.

Frost was let go Sunday, just one day after Nebraska lost 45-to-42 to Georgia Southern of the Sun Belt Conference to drop to one-and-two on the season.

Frost finishes with a 16-and-31 record in four-plus seasons as the Huskers' head coach.

This is the statement from the Athletics Director:

"Earlier today I met with Coach Frost and informed him we were making a change in the leadership of our football program, effective immediately. Scott has poured his heart and soul into the Nebraska football program both as a quarterback and head coach, and I appreciate his work and dedication.

"After the disappointing start to our season, I decided the best path forward for our program was to make a change in our head coaching position. Associate Head Coach Mickey Joseph will serve as our interim head coach for the remainder of the 2022 season."
