Nebraska Legislative Session Underway

The 108th Nebraska Legislature was called to order Wednesday morning in Lincoln.

In Nebraska, the legislature is one body, or a unicameral, the only one chamber legislature in the U.S.,and it's officially non-partisan.

With Nebraska's current unprecedented budget surplus, calls for tax cuts are expected to be a priority this session.

Property taxes and personal and business income taxes are expected to be on the table.

Others want to use at least some of the surplus to improve school funding, to attract and retain teachers, as well as for housing and mental health care in the state.
