Two Charged in Des Moines Homicide Investigation

(Des Moines, IA) -- Two people are charged in an ongoing homicide investigation in Des Moines. Police say the incident happened April 2nd during an illegal drug transaction.

Investigators say 35-year-old Devote Moten attacked 21-year-old Jaylen Cooper, who was armed and shot Moten once. Moten drove away from the scene before collapsing in the roadway and later died at the hospital.

Cooper and 19-year-old Anijah Ford are charged with conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance and misdemeanor obstruction.
