(Iowa) -- Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has named a new Iowa Poet Laureate.
Dr. Paul Brooke has been named the state's Poet Laureate for the 2026-2028 term. During his term, Dr. Brooke will participate in educational and literacy outreach programs and work to share poetry with audiences statewide. He's a native of southwest Iowa and grew up in Minden, Treynor, and Council Bluffs.
Dr. Brooke is the author of several books, and his poetry has been published internationally. Brooke holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Iowa State University and PhD in English from the University of Nebraska. He and is currently a professor of English and Grand View University in Des Moines.
