(Des Moines, IA) -- The new Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority, or DART, bus network launches on Sunday.

The new network features 10 main routes that will run more frequently along the busiest streets in the Des Moines metro as well as four corridors with 15 minute service for most of the day, seven days a week. Bus stops will be spaced further apart, and three DART On Demand microtransit buses will offer service to some suburban areas.

DART says the Reimagine DART initiative was aimed at responding to how residents travel throughout the metro and utilizing funding as efficiently as possible to align with the region's priorities for public transit. DART provides roughly 3.75 million rides per year and connects residents to workplaces, schools, hospitals, and local businesses.

More information on the Reimagine DART initiative is available on the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority website.
