(Des Moines, IA) -- The heat dome in Central Iowa is prompting Polk County to activate its Extreme Temperature Plan later this week.
It calls for weather amnesty at area homeless shelters, opens cooling centers and provides free rides to these locations on Dart buses.
The National Weather Service predicts the highs each day will be 95 degrees.
The plan will be in effect from 8 am Friday through 8am next Tuesday, July 21rst.
