(original story)

Des Moines Police say a man has died after a stabbing on the city's northwest side.

Officers were called to 3949 56th Street just before 4am.   They found a man at that home who had been stabbed.  Medics took him to Iowa Methodist Medical Center, where he died.

Neighbors tell WHO Radio News, the person who lived at the home moved in just recently.  One neighbor says she noticed a man yelling at someone outside the home after 11 o'clock last night.

Police say there had been a family gathering at the residence, and the stabbing happened as a result of a family dispute.   Police have been interviewing  suspect, and say charges could be filed this weekend.

The victim's name will be released, pending notification of relatives.

This is the 20th homicide in Des Moines this year.
