A United States Marine has been banned from walking with his High School Graduation Class because he wanted to wear his new uniform.
Fox News is reporting that Jacob Dalton Stanley graduated in December from Crown Point High School. He completed Marine boot camp on Friday, and flew home to attend his senior class' graduation ceremony. During practice, Principal Chip Pettit reportedly told Stanley that he was not allowed to wear his uniform at the weekend graduation. Stanley decided to wear his dress blues anyway.
Meanwhile The Times Of Northwest Indiana reported that nearby Hobart High School DID allow a graduate to march in commencement services June 1 AND wear her military uniform, with the support of school administrators. Marine Private 1st Class Ana Kritikos, an enlisted intelligence specialist who graduated early from Hobart High, wore her uniform to graduation.
Kritikos said Hobart High has supported her 100 percent. She said she arrived home the day of graduation and didn't get a chance to practice with her classmates.
"They have been absolutely amazing. It is OK with the Marines for us to wear our uniforms at high school graduation," Kritikos said.
