In 2014 Californians voted for Proposition 47. More than 60% of them voted for it. And what it did was make a whole bunch of felonies into misdemeanors.

Crime is up, and arrests are down. Shocking, huh?
According to Fox 11, violent crime in Los Angeles is up an astounding 40% since the passage of Prop 47 in November of 2014. Fewer arrests and incarcerations have translated into more crime.
“Currently under Prop 47 criminal records are not counted or considered. As a result violent felons are getting out early and committing more crimes.”
