A Bill decriminalizing lawful carry on school grounds was introduced and passed by an Iowa Senate sub-committee yesterday.
Senate Study Bill 1017 will allow people with concealed carry permits to pick carry on school grounds while picking up their kids or delivering to the facility.
In a statement, the Iowa Firearms coalition said: "SSB1017 restores the right of a person with a valid Permit to Carry to be in possession of firearm while picking up and dropping off their children at school without having to risk committing a felony. The Iowa Firearms Coalition has been working with Iowa legislators on this subject for more than a year, including a stalled bill last session."
The Bill now moves to the full Senate Judiciary Committee, but as of right now, no date has been fixed for it's discussion.
So is this a good idea?
