Politicians are getting on board with a move to 'dismantle the police' and replace it with a 'transformative new model for public safety'.
So far as I can see, no one has fleshed that out in terms of what that actually means, but one of the loudest voices for it so far is Jeremiah Ellison who is a Minneapolis City Ward Representative and the son of the Minnesota Attorney General, Keith Ellison.
Would they be armed? Would they be equipped to go after violent criminals? I don't know. Will it be the police in another name?
Most important of all, will they be successful in dismantling the police?
