Ankeny Police arrested a high profile restaurant owner and charged him with third degree harassment and violation of a no contact order after he allegedly placed a tracking device in a woman's car. Records show he was booked into the Polk County Jail on Monday, but has since been released.
Steve McFadden (pictured below in his booking photo), 52, owns The Grumpy Goat among other restaurants.
McFadden's arrest comes just a few weeks after a Bettendorf man - Carl Steven Shawver, 63, - was arrested and charged with Stalking after placing Apple AirTags on a victim's car.
The criminal complaint against McFadden states he placed an Invoxia GPS tracker inside the victim's car some time in December.
Should these devices be legal in the United States? Or is this like so many other things, bad use of a perfectly legitimate piece of tech?
