Right now in Iowa, you can be under 18 and take an order for an alcoholic drink in a restaurant, but there are two things you can't do. You can't ring that sale up and you can't deliver that drink to the table. For those two things to happen, you must be at least 18. Now that could be about to change.

Iowa House Rep. John Wills, (R-Spirit Lake) says “We desperately need servers. We desperately need folks to work in our businesses that can do the full job and when they can only do part of the job it’s kind of a hindrance to our workforce.”

He is the sponsor of a Bill that would change the law in Iowa to remove age limits for serving alcohol in the State and the reason is an on-going labor shortage. You can read the full story at WHO-TV

“You’re at the busy high point of the day, for somebody to say, ‘Alright, I just got an order for a beer,’ they poor it and then somebody else has to bring that beer to the table, it really just disrupts the entire restaurant and entire situation that they’re in,” Wills said.

An adult would still be required to be on site.
