Iowa State University Extension is holding various educational workshops in August.

Drought meetings are being held in 10 counties between August 3rd and 7th. Topics will include crop growth and development, feeding drought damaged crops, drought silage considerations, and crop insurance options. 45 minutes before the official start time, participants can bring up to 5 corn stocks for an on-site nitrate analysis. The event is free. More information can be found here.

Additionally, 8 in-person Farm Leasing Information meetings are being held in 7 Iowa counties in central Iowa between August 3rd and 23rd. The sessions will discuss Iowa cash rent and land value surveys, improving tenant/landlord communications, as well as addressing strategies for writing and terminating a farm lease. The cost is $20 per individual, or $30 per couple. Each registrant will receive a 100-page Farmland Leasing Arrangements book. Pre-registration is due to the host county’s extension office at least two days in advance. More information can be found here.
