Iowa is home to one of the best burgers in the US

The best burger in Iowa from the Flying Elbow restaurant in Marshalltown is now one of the best burgers in the country, capturing over 62 percent of the vote in the Burger Battle Competition against the best burger from the State of New York. The annual quest for bragging rights is a result of an effort by The Iowa Beef Industry Council and the New York Beef Council, beginning with a contest with-in their respective states to determine each state’s entry.

With “The Tombstone” burger winning the Iowa Best Burger Contest, it was put up to the test against “The Holy Smokers” from Ale n’ Angus Pub in New York. “The Tombstone” burger itself features a blend of chuck, brisket, and short rib, which is fresh, never frozen, and sourced from Midwest cattle. It also contains Wagyu beef, raised by a Marshalltown producer. It is topped with Manchego cheese, guacamole, bacon, sour cream, shredded lettuce, tomato, and death valley hot sauce on the side. It, however, can be dressed in multiple different ways. Making this combination unlike any other. This unique burger drew in a total of 1,833 votes, toppling New Yorks vote total of 1,120. Voting was held June 6th through the 13th.

For an opportunity to give this award-winning burger a taste, visitors of the Iowa State Fair should stop by the Cattlemen’s Beef Quarter’s on Friday, August 12th starting at 10 AM, while supplies last.
